(i really dont know where they got this or what exactly caused the society to publish this but this is what was said in the "draw close to jehovah" book).

hi, i'm new to these forums so i thought i would share some experiences of when i was a jw.. i was born in 1976 into a staunch jw family.
my grandparents, parents, aunties, uncles, cousins etc etc were all jw's going back to the 1950's.
when i was a child my parents, like a lot of jw parents, didn't let me have worldly friends.

Thanks for sharing that. It is just such a familiar story. Many of the points you mentioned ring home, I can tell you. It seems an imposible task once you move in the opposite direction, but with time, you are able to see the organisation for what it actually is, and you find yourself in that impossible situation where you want all your family to know what you have discovered, but you cant because the way it works is that YOU will be the one that is kept at arms length because of that clever word...Apostate. With the same passion your family want you to 'return'. There are many interesting topics covered on this site, so take comfort. You are not a nobody, just an individual seeking a sense of justice for all the wasted years of life. Be strong....Be you!

Last time two 'young uns' called, I wanted to know what they thought of the UN scandle.....The blank expressions said it all. I showed them the letter that I'd printed off for them....."'Where abouts did you obtain this?"...."Internet" I said. ..."What site?" they asked.......I told them, and they replied I should look at the Official WTBTS site for correct information, as there are many apostate sites out there giving false information.I said for them to keep the letter, but the lad practically threw it back at me and said...."eeuurgghh...apostate material".I laughed...Poor young souls.

ok ... to me it's not totally related to jw life actually, i'm here because i'm used now to chat with people (you know like you go into a cafe and share wathever you want with whoever as this board is very rich and full for immediat interaction), support them, get some support ... i just like that ... also of course it's very interesting at the same time to follow some news and get information that i might spit back to my familly in time to wake them up .... what about you ?
Like most, I spend more time reading posts and topics, particularly from a while back, than I do posting. There is such a wealth of information I find useful. Particularly in times when I like to 'defend' my decisions and actions, not that it is any real business of the JW's I used to mix with. As you all know, they are sooooo good at reasoning and justifying things, so It is great to hit them with a few 'food for thought' arguments.
To also know that the things I went through, and things I saw happen are not isolated, they happen on a global scale, as evident from all the postings....So we cannot ALL be wrong!? ( many will argue that though)

i don't know if this is wt policy, but our hall had a policy of assigning bookstudy groups to clean the hall.
the few times my family actually showed up (along with anyone else) that the hall was always in a disgusting state, especially the bathroom.
the woman's washroom had the most revolting smell you could ever imagine.

It was pointless going to clean the hall I went to. The old dears would always Re-Do everything that anyone else did. I think there was a thing going on between them all, so they could judge who was the master cleaner.
i used to love break time.
especially if it was afternoon service, and we stopped at taco bell.
i used to be damn good at eating tacos in the car without spilling anything.
Hmmmmm! I've thought long and hard.......and....nope..nothing! I hated it!.....The only joy I can remember is sitting in the back of a sisters Mini, squished in between two young sisters....and...well...you know.....phew!

This one I could not beleive. The older Elders and other 'Senior' members all had the top of the range cars..Mercs, BMW,Toyotas, Fords...etc..etc..So basically,"... if you had an old shittymobile, could you keep out of the carpark please, and let those with more valuable motors have the secure parking...."
